Capen (Barnard) House is built.

(ca.) It is located originally at the corner of Washington Street and Dunlap Road near today’s 523 Washington Street. One of the oldest houses in they U.S., it serves as a home to the Capen family for nearly 270 years. Purchased by Harvard professor Kenneth G.T. Webster for $50 in order to save it from demolition in 1909, it is subsequently disassembled then reassembled at 427 Hillside Street in Milton. It is disassembled again in 2006, placed in storage, and put up for sale.
